Through jagged lines, shadowy settings, and unsettling beauty, the art of The Age of Anxiety: German Expressionism in Art and Film examines how artists of the time reflected the political and economic turmoil following World War I.

Paintings and graphic works appear alongside imagery from influential films. Together, they reveal the movement’s lasting impact on art, horror, science fiction, and visual culture.

The Age of Anxiety: German Expressionism in Art and Film is in cooperation with the Institute for Cultural Exchange and the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau Foundation.
