  • Beginner | Art For Two: Pottery on the Wheel (SOLD OUT)

    Art For Two is the perfect one-night class experience for two where you each take home a finished piece. Class materials, a charcuterie board, and refreshments are included, no skills are required – just come ready to create, unwind, and add some artistic spark to your evening.

    Open Studio is designed for students to practice and develop their skills in an energetic community-based setting. No instruction is provided. Bisque and glaze kilns will be loaded and fired throughout the session.

    Open Studio is available for students to work independently during most of AMFA's business hours. Some classes are scheduled during this time, and registered students will be emailed a schedule that shows when the studio is closed.

    Learn how to transform fabric samples and found materials into wearable fashion jewelry using contemporary techniques with internationally renowned artist Dongyi Wu.

    Students will investigate simple mold-making and free-form construction methods. Wu will demonstrate how to secure fabric pieces to metal materials using sawing and cold connection techniques. During this process, students will also learn basic hand sewing and embroidery skills and build a sense of connection between fabrics and the human body.

    Have fun while making prints with Flatbed Press Master Printer Katherine Brimberry, who has worked with numerous world-renowned artists–including Trenton Doyle Hancock and Suzi Davidoff–to create innovative and unique print editions.

    Katherine will show you how to create expressive impressions using Flatbed’s unique approach to Chine Collé, which creates immediate and impressive results. Other techniques will include demonstrations of relief surface rolls and wiping techniques with water-soluble and oil-based inks.

    Cutting board by Mark Hinton.

    Make a cutting board for kitchen use by learning how to use the jointer, planer, table saw, bandsaw, and router. Then, sand the cutting board and apply a food-safe finish.

    Choose from domestic hardwoods on hand: maple, walnut, and cherry. Mix and match for a unique design.
