Shakespeare Summer
(See All)
“10 Things I Hate About You” with Screenwriter Kirsten Smith
July 10 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Discover how Shakespeare inspired a hit ’90s rom-com!
Based on William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, 10 Things I Hate About You transforms a classic comedy into a modern high school story about independence, identity, and unexpected love.
Following the screening, enjoy a live Q&A with screenwriter Kirsten Smith, whose many credits include Legally Blonde, Ella Enchanted, and She’s the Man. Smith will share insights into adapting Shakespeare for contemporary audiences and how these centuries-old characters are still relevant today.
This event is recommended for ages 13 and up.
Want more Shakespeare? See the original story that inspired the film on Saturday, July 11, at a screening of The Globe Theatre’s The Taming of the Shrew, filmed with a boisterous live audience that replicates the thrill of Shakespeare’s original theatre.
Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith is an acclaimed screenwriter, novelist, and poet best known for co-writing some of the most beloved, female-driven films of the 2000s.
