AMFA offers a diverse selection of art classes for adults that provide an opportunity to be inspired and get creative at any age or ability level. Before registering for a class, please review our guidelines and policies and the required supply lists.

Some classes scheduled on Mondays are extended for one week to accommodate Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 20, 2025.

  • Beginner | Art for Two: Portrait Mug
    Mug by Jenn Perren.

    Art For Two is the perfect one-night class experience for two where you each take home a finished piece. Class materials, a charcuterie board, and refreshments are included, no skills are required – just come ready to create, unwind, and add some artistic spark to your evening.

    Create a cylindrical vase inspired by AMFA's exhibition Rivera's Paris. Students will visit the AMFA galleries to view select artworks and collect ideas of how to design their vase with color and shapes.

    Learn how to use underglaze and carving tools to create designs on your vase. A clear glaze will be applied by staff to brighten colors.

    Decorate pottery with colorful glaze and a simple sharpie pen! Learn all about the basics of Raku firing.

    Two pieces of pottery will be provided for students to decorate, glaze, and fire. Experienced students can bring two hand-sized wheel thrown or handbuilt bisqueware to glaze and fire.

    Pottery by Fletcher Larkin.

    Learn about and practice the technical skills required to make a ceramic teapot.

    The first day will be spent working with wet clay to make the teapot body, lid, and spout. These parts will be assembled on the second day to create your teapot.

    Students will need to bring at least 10 pounds of clay for this workshop.
