Communications Manager
The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts is seeking a Communications Manager to oversee the strategy for reaching key audiences—including members, the public, and media—and achieve AMFA’s institutional goals through targeted communication channels.
The Communications Manager is responsible for communicating with multiple audiences across a variety of platforms using effective and creative storytelling. As a vital contributor to the educational, economic, and cultural fabric of a diverse community, AMFA fosters discovery, creativity, and learning through rich experiences in the visual and performing arts.
Email is our most used and effective communication tool, and this position must have experience with HTML. The Communications Manager should also have experience writing both long-form content (e.g., magazine articles) and short-form content (e.g., social media captions). Any experience with content creation and/or visual design is preferred.
This role requires a strong grasp of brand voice and a commitment to consistency across all touchpoints, as well as the ability to assess and adapt strategy based on performance analytics. The Communications Manager will work collaboratively across departments to source content, align messaging, and ensure timely, impactful communication.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement communication strategies that achieve AMFA’s institutional goals and are tailored to specific audiences.

Create and maintain communication calendars that clearly define when and how AMFA will communicate with each defined audience, including social media calendars.

Ensure all communications consistently reflect AMFA’s brand voice, tone, and visual identity.

Manage multiple communication mediums and channels, including website, social media, press releases, publications, and other marketing materials.

Write copy for AMFA emails and optimize email design using HTML.

Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Write in a variety of formats, including - but not limited to - ad copy, emails, social media captions, letters, articles, etc.

Track, analyze, and report on communication metrics (e.g., email open rates, social media engagement, web traffic) to evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategy as needed.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather content, align messaging, and support key initiatives and events.

Some content creation is required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Communications, Marketing, PR, or related field.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional editing and proofreading skills.

HTML knowledge is required.

Database management experience is preferred.

Design and/or content creation experience is preferred.
