Every 32 hours\, a child in our community receives a life-changing wish—yet nearly 400 local kids are still waiting for theirs to be granted. \nWith more than 7\,000 wishes fulfilled to date\, Make-A-Wish Mid-South continues to demonstrate the transformative power of a wish. DESCRIPTION:Explore meditation\, reflection\, and creative awareness in honor of AMFA’s exhibition A Month of Sundays: Art and the Persistence of Time\, where art becomes a guide for slowing down\, calming the mind\, and reconnecting to the present. \nLed in collaboration with specialists from the UAMS Mindfulness Program\, Meditative Sundays offers a guided experience\, from meditation and slow looking to sound baths and yoga. DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in a three-hour drawing session set in an untutored environment at the Windgate Art School. This dynamic experience will feature a variety of timed poses with draped and undraped models\, providing an excellent opportunity for first-time students and experienced artists alike to hone their skills. \nStudents must be 18+ to attend\, as the session may use the undraped model. We are seeking a broad spectrum of artists\, and people of all ages\, races\, gender\, backgrounds\, and abilities are encouraged to apply.  We are a professional\, non-equity theater for young audiences. \nHow to Prepare\n\nBring a current headshot and resume (stapled together) that contains your contact information.\nPrepare 16-32 bars of an upbeat musical theatre song of any genre.\nPrepare a 30-60 second comedic monologue from any time period. Monologue must be memorized.\nLive accompaniment will be available. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. DESCRIPTION:Create expressive paintings inspired by the energy and emotion of music! \nWorking with Little Rock artist\, Hamid Ebrahimifar\, practice improvisational painting that mirrors the spontaneity and flow of sound. Then\, create a paper watch inspired by the AMFA exhibition A Month of Sundays: Art and the Persistence of Time. \n\nThe Mid-South Cohort\, a multi-year\, multi-institutional exhibition partnership formed by the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art\, in collaboration with the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts\, the Birmingham Museum of Art\, Fisk University Art Gallery\, and the Mississippi Museum of Art\, is made possible by the Art Bridges Cohort Program. SUMMARY:Drop-in Figure Drawing
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in a three-hour drawing session set in an untutored environment at the Windgate Art School. This dynamic experience will feature a variety of timed poses with draped and undraped models\, providing an excellent opportunity for first-time students and experienced artists alike to hone their skills. \nStudents must be 18+ to attend\, as the session may use the undraped model. An instructor will moderate the session and be available for critiques and questions upon request. \nStudents are encouraged to bring their own materials or purchase materials from the AMFA Museum Store. Recommended materials are graphite drawing pencils\, charcoals\, and a kneaded eraser.
