Winter Youth Classes

AMFA offers children a variety of affordable, accessible, and playful educational experiences exploring the visual and performing arts. By attending interactive programs that encourage doing and making and cultivate curiosity in a nurturing learning environment, students foster a love of the arts as they grow into adulthood and beyond.

Making Together: Ceramic Lanterns (All Ages)

In this one-day workshop, discover the joy of artmaking together while creating a clay lantern with cut-outs for light to shine through.

Each ticket covers the cost of admission one child and one grown-up. Workshop participants will be contacted to pick up lanterns after the firing process has concluded.

    Explore the art of storytelling using the classic fairytales. Develop the characters through acting games and engage the imagination to devise a new adventure for classic fairytale characters. Build life skills in communication, emotional expression, and teamwork.

    Does your child love animals? This class uses their favorite animals as subjects in a variety of 2-D and 3-D art projects. Create a zoo with new friends while trying out printmaking, painting, sculpture and more.

  • Creating With Color

    In this engaging class, students embark on an artistic journey inspired by the exhibition Action/Abstraction Redefined: Modern Native Art, 1940s to 1970s. This exhibition showcases the incredible work of Native American artists who drew inspiration from the Abstract Expressionism movement.Our goal is to use this unique blend of cultural influences to inspire young artists to explore the world of color.

    Through hands-on activities, discussions, and art projects, students will learn about the power of color in art and its cultural significance. Techniques include collage, image transfers, painting, and found object assemblage.

    Prepare for spring musical auditions by walking through the process of trying out for a role in musical theatre and receiving constructive feedback from a musical theatre professional.
