SUMMARY:Small Scale Animal Sculpture Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Create a small hand-sized animal sculpture and learn the basics of solid clay sculpting. \nInstruction covers how to use simple sculpting tools to model\, hollow\, rejoin\, and attach the sculptures to a clay vessel or form. Bring 5 images on 8.5” x 11” paper of your chosen animal in a curled-up or seated position to sculpt. \nSculptures will be fired in an electric kiln. DESCRIPTION:Experiment with the printmaking during this three-hour drop-in experience at the Windgate Art School. SUMMARY:Artist Demonstration with Risa Hricovsky (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Pull back the curtain on Risa Hricovsky’s “shag rug” ceramic wall sculptures and their visual trickery during this intimate demonstration. Don’t be fooled by your first look at her work! Those are not your grandmother’s shag rugs on the gallery walls. \nWatch how Hricovksy develops different stains in clay to create colorful ceramic tiles that mimic the look of textiles and fabric wall hangings. She will also share how she conceives of her ideas\, leading to a fascinating conversation about the world around us. \nRisa Hricovsky: Then Is Now is on view in the Robyn and John Horn Gallery through May 5\, 2024. \n\nThe Windgate Art School is generously supported by the Windgate Foundation with additional support from Sherry Worthen in memory of George Worthen. \nRisa Hricovsky: Then Is Now is organized by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and is supported by the Alan DuBois Fund for Contemporary Craft.
