DESCRIPTION:Experiment with printmaking during this three-hour drop-in experience at AMFA’s Windgate Art School. Rockefeller\, Jr.\, sister of future Governor Winthrop Rockefeller\, and sister-in-law of future Arkansas First Lady Jeannette Edris Rockefeller (pictured above)—made a significant gift to the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts\, then called the Museum of Fine Arts: the monumental painting Dos Mujeres (Two Women) by Diego Rivera. When the painting entered the collection\, it marked the beginning of a new era for the museum. \n\n\n\nGovernor Rockefeller\, a visionary dedicated to advancing art and culture as a foundation for Arkansas industry and education\, encouraged his sister to give this transformational gift\, which inspired generations of Rockefeller and other family donations to follow. \n\n\n\nAs part of Rivera’s Paris\, please join Dr. John A. Kirk\, George W. DESCRIPTION:The Love Light Orchestra\, formed in 2016\, draws inspiration from the grand\, orchestral blues sound of mid-20th century Memphis legends like B.B. King and Bobby Bland. While paying homage to this era\, the orchestra also embodies the spirit of the present\, offering a blend of down-home musicality and sophistication reminiscent of packed nightclubs of yesteryears. \nLed by trumpeter Marc Franklin\, guitarist Joe Restivo\, and vocalist John Nemeth\, the ensemble has garnered praise for its immersive performances\, capturing the essence of Memphis’ influential jazz and blues scene. Their debut studio album\, Leave the Light On\, showcases the collective’s dedication over three years\, navigating busy schedules and the challenges of a global health crisis. \nWith the release of their sophomore album\, the orchestra refines its sound\, presenting mostly original tunes that highlight their veteran musicianship while looking toward the future. DESCRIPTION:Experiment with printmaking during this three-hour drop-in experience at AMFA’s Windgate Art School. Open to beginner and experienced artists alike\, it’s a great way to learn a new art form or work independently on your own projects. \nAn instructor will moderate the session and be available for critiques and questions upon request. \nStudents are encouraged to bring their own materials or purchase materials from the AMFA Museum Store. Recommended materials are a carving block\, five-piece cutters and stamp carving tool\, and high-quality paper.
