SUMMARY:Concert Series: John Gallagher Jr.
DESCRIPTION:A Brooklyn based artist\, actor\, and screenwriter\, John Gallagher Jr. broke out onto the scene with his originating role as Moritz Stiefel in Duncan Sheik’s Broadway mega-hit Spring Awakening\, which earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He has since starred in Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning rock opera American Idiot\, Rabbit Hole\, and The Avett Brothers’ critically acclaimed musical Swept Away\, as well as appeared on the silver screen in Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series The Newsroom\, 10 Cloverfield Lane\, Westworld\, Short Term 12\, and Hush among many others. \nWith three records under his belt – Six Day Hurricane (2016)\, 8th and Jane (2021)\, Goodbye or Something (2024) – Gallagher’s songwriting is known for having an emphasis on the confessional\, cathartic\, and emotional\, prompting Billboard to rave: “Be it a ballad strum or a hard rock shred\, both come naturally to Gallagher.” His music has been described as “emo folk rock” – a tragicomic blend of rootsy bravado and vulnerable heart-on-sleeve reflection. \nOn Friday\, October 2\, Season Ticket Holders enjoy free tickets to a screening of 10 Cloverfield Lane followed by a Q+A with Gallagher. \n\nThe 2026-2027 Concert Series is supported in part by Mary Ann Coleman\, Mimi San Pedro\, Olivia Farrell\, and Susan Conley and the Partnership for Community Enrichment with Gael Downs Hees and Randy Hees. \nPhoto by Regina Strayhorn.

SUMMARY:Concert Series: Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen
DESCRIPTION:After thirty-five years of being at the forefront of the ever-evolving musical landscape of New Orleans\, Grammy award winner Jon Cleary decided to bring that sound back home\, both figuratively and literally. He assembled the Absolute Monster Gentlemen (his acclaimed all-star big band) in his home studio in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans\, drew up a setlist of some of his most beloved songs – and some new favorites – and rolled tape. \nThe result is The Bywater Sessions\, a musical tour-de-force that showcases the grit\, funk\, and joy that has packed concert halls from New Orleans to Tokyo and beyond. Co-produced by Cleary and John Porter (Roxy Music\, The Smiths\, Taj Mahal)\, it’s a stunning collection of performances that affirms Cleary’s place in the New Orleans musical vanguard. \nAs for the musicians\, it’s the best of the best. Long time Absolute Monster Gentlemen Cornell Williams and A.J. Hall anchor the band on bass and drums\, respectively. They are joined by Nigel Hall (Lettuce) on Hammond organ\, Pedro Segundo (Ronnie Scott’s All Stars) on percussion\, Xavier Lynn (MonoNeon\, Ledisi) on guitar\, and an all-star horn section of Aaron Narcisse (Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra)\, Charlie Halloran (Squirrel Nut Zippers\, Preservation Hall All Stars) and Jason Mingledorff (Galactic). \n\nThe 2026-2027 Concert Series is supported in part by Mary Ann Coleman\, Mimi San Pedro\, Olivia Farrell\, and Susan Conley and the Partnership for Community Enrichment with Gael Downs Hees and Randy Hees. \nPhoto by Steve Rapport.
