DESCRIPTION:Start your weekend with free art-making fun for all ages and skill levels in AMFA’s Windgate Art School! \nInspired by the iconic photography on view in Kwame Brathwaite: The 1970s\, this Creative Saturdays activity invites you to explore the art of fashion design. \nBrathwaite was a pivotal figure in the “Black is Beautiful” movement\, and his work celebrated natural beauty and African heritage\, capturing bold styles and cultural expression. Using fashion design stencils and fabric samples\, create your own unique outfits and couture pieces by embracing the vibrant aesthetics and empowering themes present in Brathwaite’s photography. \n\nCreative Saturdays are supported by the Alice L. Walton Foundation. \nThe Windgate Art School is generously supported by the Windgate Foundation with additional support from Sherry Worthen in memory of George Worthen. \nWindgate Art School’s Reduced Tuition Program is supported in part by Michael Laughter. Reduced tuition is automatically applied on all classes through 2025. \n
