SUMMARY:Nevelson-Inspired Sculpture Workshop (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Create a unique\, free-standing clay sculpture inspired by the work of Louise Nevelson on view in AMFA’s Architects of Being exhibition. Students will visit the AMFA galleries to explore artworks\, gathering ideas for incorporating shapes and form into a sculptural design. \nUsing a special black clay for this project\, ceramic artist India Childress will lead you through manipulating the clay with slabs to achieve an exciting and complete artwork. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to draw inspiration from a rich collection while learning about and developing your ceramic techniques. \n\nArchitects of Being: Louise Nevelson and Esphyr Slobodkina is supported in part by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation\, National Endowment for the Arts\, Alan DuBois Fund for Contemporary Craft\, Ellsworth Kelly Foundation\, Anita Davis\, and The Jewish Federation of Arkansas. \nThe catalogue for Architects of Being: Louise Nevelson and Esphyr Slobodkina is supported in part by the Wyeth Foundation for American Art. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThis exhibition is organized by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. \nThe Windgate Art School is generously supported by the Windgate Foundation with additional support from Sherry Worthen in memory of George Worthen. \nWindgate Art School’s Reduced Tuition Program is supported by Michael Laughter.
